Every great story has a beginning… and ours started with a wedding.
When we got engaged back in 2014, we knew one thing for certain… we didn’t want a traditional wedding! We wanted something a little different and knew our dream venue was out there somewhere just waiting to be found.
Then, by complete serendipity, we discovered the most incredible Nordic tipis and instantly fell in love. They were everything we’d been searching for – unique, beautiful and unlike anything we’d ever seen before.
Little did we know that one decision would go on to change our lives forever.
Our wedding sparked a passion that simply wouldn’t go away. We couldn’t stop talking about tipis, dreaming up ideas and imagining how amazing it would be to help other people create extraordinary celebrations of their own.
And that’s exactly how Serentipi was born.
// THIS IS US …
I’m Jamie (aka the ‘brains’ behind the bizz) and together with my husband Phil (I’d like to say just the brawn but he’s a damn sight more than that!), we’re a pretty formidable team who literally pour our heart and soul into bringing these magnificent Nordic tipis to weddings, celebrations and corporate events across Yorkshire and beyond.
It’s often commented that we make the perfect combo…we both have our faults but the other one always seems to compensate for them. I’m the mad creative with ideas spilling out of my weary brain every day, while Phil is the calm, level-headed one who somehow manages to make structural calculations, logistics and staff rotas look enjoyable (weird, I know!). I love the fluff (as Phil calls it) – understanding your vision, styling your event and dreaming up new ideas. Phil loves all the ‘boring jobs’ (as I call them), and honestly, I couldn’t do any of this without him.
We have two wonderfully spirited children who we’re steadily training to become ‘Serentipi slaves’! Juggling family life whilst running a business certainly has its challenges, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We feel incredibly lucky to do something we genuinely love every single day.
Getting to know you and your quirks is one of our favourite parts of the job. Building genuine relationships is at the heart of everything we do because the more we understand you, the better we can bring your vision to life.
Above all, we never forget what it feels like to plan a once-in-a-lifetime celebration ourselves. That’s why we treat every wedding, party and corporate event with the same care, enthusiasm and attention to detail as if it were our own… actually, better than our own!

Looking back, it’s hard to believe that one wedding could lead us here.
This year, we’re incredibly proud to be celebrating 10 years of Serentipi. Over the last decade, we’ve had the privilege of creating over 600 extraordinary weddings, celebrations and corporate events, each one unique and every bit as important to us as the first.
We’ve met some incredible people, worked at beautiful venues, made lifelong friends and been honoured with industry awards along the way. But our proudest achievement will always be the wonderful couples, families and businesses who’ve trusted us to be part of their story.
One thing hasn’t changed…
We still get just as excited about every enquiry, every installation and every reaction when guests walk through the entrance for the very first time.

They literally explode your senses with the sound of creaking wood, the smell of burning fires and the warm glow exuding from the canvas walls. One thing’s for sure, they certainly deliver when it comes to creating that ‘wow factor’ entrance!
Spacious and versatile, our tipis cater for your bespoke requirements and can stand alone or be linked to create incredible spaces…the possibilities are endless!
Being authentic and original is important to us – after all…the original is the best! We wouldn’t risk anything less than the BEST for your wedding which is why we use the highest quality tents in the industry.
We source our tents from Tentipi, the world’s only manufacturer of the authentic Nordic tipi. You can see and feel a difference compared with some imitation tents…our poles are often over 100 years old, sourced from sustainable forests in Northern Scandinavia making them incredibly strong and resilient.
Inspired by the Sami Kata, they were created by a man called Bengt Grahn who taught himself to sew and began making Nordic tipis in Lapland. Little did he know that his giant hat inventions would become a favourite among businesses and event companies around the world which has changed his life forever.
They really are quite something and we love the fact that they come with a story. Bengt still remains the same humble man from the beginning – never forgetting his roots and staying true to his foundations of integrity, authenticity and respect…what a guy!!
